Bespin has helped us not only reduce costs but also create a more resilient and secure business platform. Wassim Merheby - CEO of Verofax THE CUSTOMER Founded in 2018 and based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with a presence in Middletown, Delaware, US, Verofax specializes in product digitization, providing innovative solutions that empower brands, retailers, and governments to enhance their operations. Recognized for its asset digitization and traceability software, which democratizes digital transformation, Verofax operates an automation and traceability platform connecting to customers’ current systems. Verofax’s services include sustainable validation via hosted testing as a service (TaaS) running on Microsoft Azure. THE CHALLENGE Driven by the need to address various issues affecting operational efficiency, development productivity, exposure to potential security risks and threats, and high consumption costs for clients, Verofax required a partner with expertise in cloud-native solutions and digital transformation experience to help them navigate these challenges and optimize their operations.“We were at a critical stage where our infrastructure's limitations were becoming a bottleneck for our growth and innovation,” says Wassim Merheby, CEO of Verofax. “Our expansion goals necessitated a migration that would empower us with enhanced scalability and management capabilities, while also addressing the pressing need for a fortified security posture. However, since we lacked the required skills in-house, we needed a partner with the expertise and experience aligned with our comprehensive requirements.”Due to TaaS and in-house applications being hosted across multiple Azure subscriptions, Verofax wanted to migrate from Azure Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) to Enterprise Agreement (EA) subscriptions. While Azure CSP subscriptions offer significant benefits when managed by a Microsoft partner, they posed challenges in resource management and operational efficiency for Verofax, which wanted to take advantage of the flexibility, scalability, and better management capabilities of EA subscriptions aligned to the company’s needs. THE SOLUTION “A migration project also allowed us to address other critical issues to deliver the capabilities our customers are looking for,” says Merheby. “Our goal for the project was a scalable and cost-effective cloud infrastructure, enhanced deployment and development capabilities, and a more robust security posture.” Choosing the Right Partner Verofax selected Bespin Global, an e& enterprise company, for their cloud-native expertise and end-to-end services. Bespin's reputation as a digital transformation enabler and its ability to provide comprehensive solutions from discovery to security implementation made it the ideal partner for Verofax's ambitious migration project.“Bespin Global's digitally enabled architects and engineers positioned them as a leading enabler for our Azure migration journey,” says Merheby. “They had the right mix of expertise and commitment to excellence that our migration project demanded.”Bespin Global played a crucial role in the project, handling the architecture and implementation of the Azure Landing Zone and the transition of resources to newly established Enterprise Agreement (EA) subscriptions for more flexibility, scalability, and better management capabilities. In addition, Bespin’s team formulated a comprehensive disaster recovery plan, ensuring that Verofax can maintain essential business functions during and after a disaster, reducing the impact of disruptions and ensuring ongoing operations.“Our strategy was to provide Verofax with a seamless migration experience,” says Joseph George, BESPIN GLOBAL’s Project Manager, “while also enhancing their operational and security capabilities without disrupting their ongoing business activities.” Leveraging Modern Infrastructure “We carefully selected each technology to build a modern infrastructure that not only solved Verofax's immediate challenges but also set them up for future success,” says Mahmoud Atallah, Bespin Global’s Azure Delivery Lead. “Leveraging Azure provides Verofax with a robust, secure, and efficient cloud environment.”To ensure that Bespin Global applied the Azure Well-Architected Framework. This framework, which emphasizes five critical pillars—Cost Optimization, Operational Excellence, Performance Efficiency, Reliability, and Security—guided the creation of a streamlined and future-ready cloud solution tailored to Verofax’s evolving needs. While Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) was retained as a managed container orchestration service to simplify the deployment, management, and operations of Kubernetes, Azure Firewall was chosen to control egress traffic, addressing Verofax's need for robust cloud-based application protection given the security vulnerabilities in their existing AKS and VMs. In addition, Microsoft Defender for Cloud was selected for its comprehensive threat-prevention capabilities, which were instrumental in reducing security incidents and enhancing Verofax's security posture.Furthermore, Azure Policy and Azure Key Vault were implemented to enforce governance standards, regulatory compliance, and secure secrets management. Azure Policy evaluates Azure resources against the policies created, reporting on compliance and automatically implementing changes, while Azure Key Vault streamlines the key management process and provides secure access to sensitive information while also monitoring access and use. In addition, Azure Disk Encryption (ADE) and Azure Bastion were chosen to enhance data protection and secure remote access to virtual machines directly in the Azure portal, while Azure Monitoring helps maximize the availability and performance of applications and services.“Bespin selected each technology and service based on its ability to address our specific requirements for governance, operational efficiency, security, and overall cloud infrastructure management,” says Merheby. “Their choices formed a well-integrated solution aligned with our needs, industry standards, and best practices.” Optimizing Efficiencies Bespin Global was responsible for managing Verofax’s end-to-end cloud journey, which also included the implementation of CI/CD pipelines to streamline code deployment, enhance version control, and improve development processes. In addition, operational optimization was achieved by cleaning up stale and orphaned resources and implementing FinOps for efficient cost management, leading to significant cost savings and improved resource utilization.“The new DevOps pipelines have been a game-changer,” says Merheby. “They’ve significantly streamlined our development processes, allowing our teams to deliver faster and more reliably, while implementing FinOps has led to significant cost savings and improved resource utilization.”Bespin Global's FinOps services are designed to automate cloud cost management and provide real-time visibility into cloud spending. This allows customers to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize their cloud environment. The services are tailored to each business, ensuring that solutions are customized to maximize return on investment (ROI). RESULTS & BENEFITS “The results speak for themselves,” declares Merheby. “We now have a more agile, secure, and efficient infrastructure that is ready to support our ambitious growth plans. The technical and operational results have been outstanding, with a marked reduction in security incidents, a newfound ability to rapidly scale our resources, and a 70% reduction in cloud consumption costs, allowing us to offer the Verofax solution at a more affordable price to our clients. That’s all due to Bespin’s expertise!” Bespin Global's value in Verofax's Azure migration project was multifaceted, encompassing its cloud-native expertise, end-to-end services, and digital transformation experience.  By adopting a microservices architecture where appropriate, Verofax was able to enhance application resilience and ensure that individual components could scale independently based on demand. Its comprehensive approach to the project, from planning and migration to FinOps and security implementation, demonstrated its ability to address complex challenges and deliver a seamless transition with minimal operational impact. Furthermore, the project was completed 21 days earlier than planned, demonstrating the efficiency and effectiveness of the migration process. “The results of our Azure migration have exceeded all expectations,” says Merheby enthusiastically, “especially because it came in 30% ahead of schedule! The operational efficiencies we've gained through Bespin Global's meticulous planning and execution have transformed our business. Bespin has helped us not only reduce costs but also create a more resilient and secure business platform, which will undoubtedly impact customer satisfaction and retention." “Completing the project ahead of schedule is proof of our team's dedication and the strong collaboration with Verofax,” says George. “Seeing Verofax reap the benefits of increased operational efficiency and a robust security posture is a testament to the power of a well-executed cloud migration.” About Bespin Global, an e& enterprise company: A Microsoft Azure and Security Specialized Solution Partner, BESPIN GLOBAL MEA (Middle East and Africa), an e& enterprise company, is a leading provider of automated cloud solutions and consulting services, including cloud strategy, migration, implementation, DevOps, and Big Data. How Bespin Acted Rapidly to Help Eighty6 Stop Excess AWS Costs

REGION Middle-East COMPANY TYPE Private Business INDUSTRY Food & Beverages CLOUD SOLUTION LinkedIn Email Print Contact Bespin's Consultants ▾ Thanks to Bespin and OpsNow, we were alerted to the abnormal activity on our AWS account and took swift action to prevent a potential security breach. We also saved substantial money on our AWS bill, and now have better control over our cloud infrastructure costs. Abdul Kader Saadi – Founder of Eighty6 THE CUSTOMER Founded in 2021 and launched in January 2022, Eighty6 is a cutting-edge B2B online marketplace transforming how the food service sector procures goods and services. The company’s innovative platform streamlines and simplifies the entire procurement process, connecting F&B suppliers with buyers in a seamless and efficient manner. As a comprehensive e-commerce solution, Eighty6 bridges the gap in fulfillment and communication between suppliers and restaurants. Restaurants can review, place, and track orders on the go, while vendors can effortlessly aggregate, promote, and communicate with thousands of potential buyers at the touch of a button.“With so many users transacting on Eighty6, we need robust IT infrastructure that offers high capacity – at a manageable cost.” – says Abdul Kader Saadi, Founder of Eighty6. Seamless integration, powerful analytics, and intuitive UI all matter in handling the demands of the Eighty6 client base, ensuring a seamless user experience for both suppliers and buyers. THE CHALLENGE As an online B2B marketplace Eighty6 relies on AWS services such as EC2, S3's Route 53, and Redshift Glue for their business operations. The company has no on-premises infrastructure, with all technology provisioning occurring in the cloud. In working with Bespin, an AWS Managed Service Provider (MSP), Saadi said that Eighty6 had found a reliable partner to manage cloud infrastructure and to keep an eye on costs. “In August 2022 came a moment when we really relied on that partnership.”Last August, Eighty6 faced a technology incident that affected the company’s AWS consumption significantly. THE SOLUTION Through the OpsNow platform, Bespin monitors the systems and infrastructure of its clients more frequently than the CSP (cloud service providers) their clients depend on. Thanks to this frequent monitoring, the team at Bespin Global rapidly caught the spike in usage on Eighty6’s systems.“The seriousness of the usage spike mandated an immediate investigation. We rapidly responded to try to discover why resource usage spiked the way it did – working to discover the root cause of the problem” - according to Hamzeh Shaghlil, AWS Solutions Lead at Bespin Global MEA.With the problem now identified, Bespin started a repair and clean-up process to fix the erroneous code causing the usage spike. This process nonetheless took place over a period of time which meant that AWS usage continued to be high – incurring ongoing excess costs for Eighty6. It simply wasn’t possible to fix the problem instantly without taking the company’s services offline. However, as an AWS partner, Bespin Global has a close relationship with AWS. “Though we know that Eighty6 is liable for all costs incurred on its AWS instances, we’re grateful that Bespin nonetheless liaised with AWS to negotiate a discount on the excess cost – based on usage history and past billings”, said Saadi. The final excess amount on the Eighty6 AWS bill was significantly reduced. Bespin also helped Eighty6 set up a budget for their AWS account, and the company now receives notifications from OpsNow warning Eighty6 when usage is exceeding limits. RESULTS & BENEFITS Thanks to Bespin and OpsNow, Eighty6 was alerted to the abnormal activity on their AWS account and took swift action to prevent a potential security breach. The company also saved substantial money on its AWS bill, and they now have better control over its cloud infrastructure costs.“We found working with the Bespin team to be very effective, and we appreciated the MSP’s willingness to negotiate with AWS on our behalf. We’re exploring the idea of a professional services deal with Bespin to take advantage of their AWS solution architecture skills” – according to Saadi. The company is enjoying ongoing use of Bespin’s OpsNow platform for automation, cost optimization, analysis, and monitoring for cloud management, operations, and other Eighty6 IT processes. Aside from ongoing monitoring, Eighty6 benefits from ongoing cost optimization through OpsNow. OpsNows also supports group management and provides smart functions for resource usage analysis and management. In conclusion, Bespin Global’s service saved the day for Eighty6, and the MSP's expertise helped the company avoid a potential security breach and reduce costs significantly. This case study demonstrates the importance of having a reliable MSP to help manage cloud infrastructure effectively. Helping people build a healthier relationship with finances through a modern, innovative app

REGION Middle-East COMPANY TYPE Digital Native / Start-Up INDUSTRY FinTech CLOUD SOLUTION LinkedIn Email Print Contact Bespin's Consultants ▾ I’ve been collaborating with Bespin for several years, and they’ve never let me down. What I appreciate the most is the level of consistency and professionalism that the team exhibits at all times. That’s why we’re using Bespin as our cloud management service provider. We believe in assigning the task to the best out there. Mo Ibrahim, Co-Founder and CEO of MALY Tech THE CUSTOMER Founded in 2022, MALY Tech is a FinTech startup on a mission to improve the financial wellness of people across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Headquartered in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC)—a leading international financial hub for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region—MALY launched its innovative bank-linked savings app and card designed to help consumers build a healthier relationship with money. THE OBJECTIVE “As a FinTech startup,” explains Mo Ibrahim, Co-Founder, and CEO of MALY Tech, “our aim was to develop an innovative savings app backed up by a range of features to help consumers improve their financial wellness. We wanted to create a seamless user experience combining industry-leading features and functionality with on-demand performance and 24x7 availability.”Launched in May 2023 in UAE, the MALY app help people automate savings from daily purchases, setting a weekly or monthly savings plan, create goals and accumulate savings towards achieving them. MALY features also a bank-linked savings card by Visa, offered free of charge to all MALY customers.“One of the first decisions we made was to partner with Bespin,” continues Ibrahim. “We’ve worked with the Bespin team for almost four years on different projects and product launches, so we knew exactly the level of service and support we could expect to receive. So, choosing Bespin as our technology partner wasn’t much of a decision. It was a no-brainer. ” THE SOLUTION “To meet MALY’s goals,” says Ibrahim, “it needed to be well thought out from the beginning. We didn’t want to do something quick and then regret it and have to redesign everything from scratch.” Choosing the Right Partners “We developed the initial design and architecture in-house,“ says Ibrahim, “but once we were ready to deploy in a test environment, we consulted with Bespin to validate and fine-tune the design based on their experience and best practices. They’ve been very helpful in terms of providing advice, guidance, and support with some final touches on the design itself and making sure the deployment reflects the best possible for both ourselves and our customers.”MALY relied on several strategic partnerships to help develop and launch its flagship app. These include collaboration with leading FinTech companies like DAPI, a provider of open banking APIs enabling fintech-based apps to access real-time banking data and initiate payments from the user’s bank account, and Nymcard, a cloud-based issuer processor enabling fintech and financial innovators to quickly launch frictionless virtual and plastic card payment programs built on modern infrastructure.“Bespin is our trusted partner and MSP for cloud deployment and operations,” explains Ibrahim, “but there will be a range of partnerships—both now and in the future—to help increase the richness and usefulness of the platform and the associated product. The fintech space is evolving rapidly, but with Bespin as our core infrastructure partner, we believe we can become a leader in our target segment.” Choosing the Right Strategy “We chose to go with a cloud-native microservices approach since we believe that’s the right choice for a direct-to-consumer product in terms of the use of technology, availability of tools, and cost efficiency, “ states Ibrahim. “The next decision was whether we chose AWS, Google, Microsoft, or something else as our cloud platform. Ultimately, we decided on AWS because we had prior experience and the platform has proved scalable and efficient.”Bespin and MALY also used the project to introduce state-of-art DevOps best practices and tools to automate the development workflow and software deployment. After evaluating MALY’s planned environment and processes, Bespin recommended a suite of AWS technologies that could be seamlessly integrated and used to test the MALY app during the various integration and deployment phases from both a code and a functionality perspective.“We felt that the best way to meet MALY’s business objectives was to build the microservices-based MALY app on AWS Fargate and deploy it using various CI/CD technologies,” states Hamzeh Shaghlil, Technical Account Manager at Bespin Global MEA. Leveraging Modern Infrastructure Providing increased availability, MALY’s platform runs cross-functional microservices on AWS Fargate, with different resource pools assigned for staging and production. Compatible with both Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), AWS Fargate is a serverless, pay-as-you-go compute engine that provides on-demand, right-sized compute capacity, eliminating the need for administrators to provision, configure, or scale groups of virtual machines to run containers.Bespin deployed MALY using an integrated data platform comprising Amazon RDS and Atlas MongoDB. Amazon RDS, a relational database service, was deployed to take advantage of the automated backup, multi-availability zone deployment, and encryption at rest capabilities, while Atlas MongoDB, a non-relational document database, allows users to focus on shipping features by reducing architectural complexity and seamlessly scaling operations. In addition, AWS CloudFront, a developer-friendly, fast content delivery network (CDN) service is used to provide fast, low-latency delivery of admin content worldwide. At the same time, with AWS WAF, MALY’s web applications are protected against common web exploits that may affect availability, compromise security, or consume excessive resources. Streamlining the Workflow “We decided to use AWS CodePipeline, a fully managed pay-per-use service, to automate the release pipeline for fast, reliable app updates,” says Shaghlil. “The MALY code is retrieved from the GitLab repository and deployed via AWS CodePipeline; first to the staging environment and then, after testing, to production.”Triggered by a code change, AWS CodePipeline enables developers to rapidly and reliably deliver new features and updates via a continuous delivery service that automates the build, test, and deploy phases of the release process. CodePipeline also enables new deployments to be validated in a staging environment before changes are pushed to end users in production.“By combining AWS CodePipeline with AWS CodeBuild and AWS CodeDeploy, we can seamlessly build, test, and deploy code as part of MALY’s release process,” says Shaghlil. “Since every app is different and each containerized microservice can be independently updated, we implemented and tested various deployment strategies to help ensure that MALY’s upgrades were seamless and unnoticeable to the end user.” Increasing Efficiencies “Once it’s released to a wider audience, we expect the use of the MALY app to vary significantly from one day to the next,” says Ibrahim. “As a result, we need to be confident that our platform can scale seamlessly with maximum availability. We could manage it ourselves, but is it really necessary? We’re true believers in collaborating with the best in class to realize the best outcome. That’s why we’re working with Bespin as our MSP.”In addition to providing 24/7 integrated support services—including application and infrastructure monitoring, incident response, backup, and disaster recovery—Bespin’s Managed Services team works directly with MALY’s team to evaluate different environment metrics—including availability, governance, and performance—using Amazon CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail to make recommendations for optimizing the environment. As a result, the MALY app and MALY’s workload components are continually optimized using AWS and Bespin financial, operational, and security best practices.“Bespin’s managed services team also supports MALY by tracking cost and usage trends,” adds Shaghlil. “By analyzing the information to detect usage trends and resource constraints during the stealth phase, we’re better positioned to optimize the platform and provide cost management recommendations when MALY is officially launched to a wider consumer base.” RESULTS & BENEFITS “Deploying MALY using a microservices architecture running on AWS in partnership with Bespin offers significant technical and business benefits,” says Ibrahim. “We’ve been able to achieve our goals by both teams working together closely to deliver the best we can. Overall, it’s been a very satisfactory project because we’ve been able to bring together the best people to create the best possible experience for our end users.”The microservices architecture allows the MALY app to be deployed quickly and immutably while ensuring high availability, scalability, and self-healing of containerized workloads. Furthermore, with automatic deployment and release of new features—underpinned by a fully managed environment—MALY enjoys complete flexibility, making it easy to bring new fintech innovations to market.“I’ve been working with Bespin for several years, and they’ve never let me down,” concludes Ibrahim. “What I appreciate the most is the level of consistency and professionalism that the team exhibits at all times. Of course, we’re also delighted with the deployment itself and the support we received. That’s why we’re using Bespin as our cloud management service provider. We believe in assigning the task to the best out there.” About Bespin Global, an e& enterprise company: An AWS Premier Tier Services Partner and AWS Managed Service Partner, BESPIN GLOBAL MEA (Middle East and Africa) is a leading provider of automated cloud solutions and consulting services, including cloud adoption, strategy, migration, implementation, Managed Services, DevOps, FinOps and Data & Analytics.
